Duo Charged With Stealing $381 Worth Of Merchandise From Macy's In Yorktown

A man from White Plains and a woman from Ossining have been charged after police say they stole nearly $400 of merchandise from Macy’s at the Jefferson Valley Mall.

Yorktown Police say they received a report that two people had shoplifted items from Macy’s and fled the scene in a vehicle on Wednesday, May 29 around 4 p.m.

Officers subsequently located the vehicle on the Taconic State Parkway and initiated a traffic stop.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects, identified as Tavar Young, 32, of White Plains and Cheyene Carrington, 23, of Ossining left Macy’s without paying for merchandise, valued at $381.92, according to police.

Young and Carrington were arrested and transported to Yorktown Police Department, where they were processed and charged with petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

Both suspects were ticketed and released on their own recognizance. They are scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Sunday, July 7.
